Book cake!

Today I was honored with the most beautiful cake at the CPCC Harris Campus Leadership Team meeting. It will be my last meeting and I was surprised with a gorgeous work of art created by the Baking & Pastry Arts Instructor Tessia Harman. (pictured below with her arms around the baby, I'm sure it took her a lot of time to make!!!)
Michael Matlock and Dean Mary Vickers-Koch planned the perfect diversion/surprise and it truly blew me away. I vowed to start a blog to communicate my adventures in the UAE, so the result is this new blog! The cake is vanilla, with raspberry filling, covered in fondant, and sprayed with real gold! And we ate it! Michael brought in a display of UAE Dirham, the currency used in Dubai, and several other really cool mementos he had-- including the burg khalifa in crystal. The kindness and thoughtfulness of this group of people continues to blow me away, to the very end. The CPCC Harris Campus is petite and sweet, with many of the luxuries that students would experience at a private college! I have always felt very close to my colleagues and this is the icing on the cake! Thank you CPCC!
Even the Central Campus Library supervisors came out! Pictured is Jennifer on the left, and Amy on the right. Me with my cake below!
